What is Recraft?
Recraft is a creative platform for producing images, illustrations, icons and editable vector graphics. Its Studio brings generation and editing into the same canvas, so a design can be refined, recoloured or placed onto a mockup after the first result. Raster and vector outputs serve different purposes: a photograph is a pixel image, while an SVG can keep its shapes editable and scale without pixelation.
The Recraft model family includes standard, Pro, Vector, Utility and Flash variants. Utility models focus on simpler product and mockup compositions; Vector models produce SVG. Studio also offers selected third-party image and video models. Saved styles and references help carry a visual direction across related assets, although Recraft does not provide a dedicated character-tracking feature.
Recraft is available on the web and through mobile apps, with a separate API for its own models. Plan differences matter for professional use: free outputs are public and restricted to personal use, while paid plans provide private generation and commercial rights under the terms. API Units are separate from Studio credits, and the selected model and operation determine consumption.

Limitations
Free outputs are public and are not licensed for commercial use. Subscription credits reset monthly. Third-party Studio models are not available through the Recraft API, and conversational tasks can consume credits across several operations.

Raster and vector generation
Create pixel images or editable SVG artwork from prompts. Recraft’s native model variants cover images, vector graphics and simpler product compositions.
Editable SVG assets
Recolour vector artwork, adjust its detail and continue editing its paths in another design tool. Raster images can also be converted into SVG.
Styles and visual references
Reuse a saved style and image references across related assets. Frames support targeted revisions; subject continuity depends on these controls rather than a dedicated character tracker.
Product mockups
Place an uploaded or generated design onto apparel, packaging, posters or other surfaces. The mockup canvas supports positioning the artwork before export.
Studio and mobile creation
Continue between the web canvas and iOS or Android with synced projects and styles. Mobile includes manual controls, conversational creation, editing, upscaling and vectorisation.
Model-specific API access
Integrate Recraft’s proprietary image and vector models and editing operations. The API has its own prepaid balance; Studio’s external models stay within Studio.

Can I use Recraft’s free images commercially?
Recraft’s current terms restrict free-plan outputs to personal use. Paid-plan outputs carry commercial rights under the applicable terms. Free generations are also public.
Does Recraft generate editable vectors?
Its Vector models generate SVG artwork that can be recoloured, scaled and edited. Recraft also offers raster-to-vector conversion; raster generation and vector generation are separate output types.
Does a Studio subscription include API usage?
The Recraft API uses prepaid API Units purchased separately from Studio credits. Its API supports Recraft’s proprietary models; third-party models available in Studio are not exposed through that API.
