From a research question to a structured evidence base
Elicit combines literature discovery, data extraction and research reports in an AI research workspace. Its Research Agent can find studies, answer questions about individual papers and build tables, figures or slides in the same session. The agent also works with uploaded material, so research can start with documents already collected.
For formal evidence synthesis, the dedicated Systematic Review tool adds a guided process for gathering papers, applying inclusion criteria, screening studies and extracting data. Supporting quotations and recorded reasons make decisions easier to trace. This dedicated tool is available on Pro and higher plans; screening capacity, extraction columns and figure analysis vary by tier.
Elicit’s export options make the results useful beyond its own interface. Reports can become PDF or Word documents, tables can move into a spreadsheet, and RIS or BIB files carry references into a citation manager. Scale and Enterprise add live collaboration. All research draws from a shared monthly usage pool, with optional paid extra usage on Pro and Scale.

Limitations
Large files, detailed extraction and figure analysis use more of the shared monthly allowance. Plan capacity and academic/industry eligibility affect both the price and the work included.

Is Elicit free?
Basic is free with limited Research Agent and Report usage. Paid plans add capacity and features. Research Report PDF/Word exports are available on all plans.
Can Elicit perform a systematic literature review?
Yes. Pro, Scale and Enterprise include the dedicated review tool for search, screening, extraction and reporting. Pro’s advertised screening capacity is 5,000 papers; Enterprise offers greater capacity.
What happened to Find Papers and Extract Data?
They became Research Agent skills on 30 September 2026. Earlier sessions are view-only and can still be exported or carried into an Agent session.
Are academic and industry prices the same?
No. The pricing page has separate offers. Academic pricing is available to academic users, and Elicit’s help also directs nonprofits to those plans.
