Project work and AI in the same workspace
ClickUp organises work into tasks, lists, folders and spaces, with documents and chat alongside them. Brain AI adds assistance inside these work surfaces: it can summarise a document, generate action items, draft text or answer questions about a task. Teams can turn relevant responses into new tasks and documents rather than keeping every answer in a separate chat.
Connected Search lets Brain and Super Agents retrieve information from supported external apps. The current documentation includes Google Drive, Slack, GitHub, Jira and Microsoft services, with connection-specific restrictions. Notion is explicitly excluded from Brain search. Owners and admins must enable the relevant search connection, and guests cannot use Connected Search.
AI features have their own roles and allowances. Super Agents handle multi-step work, AI Skills supply saved instructions, and AI Notetaker brings recorded meeting notes into a searchable hub. Notetaker access depends on activation, user role and the selected add-on or bundle. A workspace’s basic plan does not automatically include every AI feature.
ClickUp separates the workspace subscription from AI add-ons and shared AI Super Credits. A workspace upgrade and Brain add-on fees cover its members, rather than just the individual choosing an upgrade. Premium-model capacity can fall back to standard models when exhausted; unusually heavy use can temporarily pause access under fair-use limits. Some workspaces are being offered newer plans with more AI included.

Limitations
Workspace subscriptions and AI add-ons have separate costs. Unlimited-labelled AI remains subject to fair-use and premium-model limits. Connected Search supports a defined app list and excludes guests; Notion is not supported for Brain search.

Is ClickUp free?
Free Forever provides ongoing task and document access, unlimited members and 60 MB attachment storage. AI features start with trial access and have separate paid-plan or add-on terms.
Does a paid ClickUp plan include all AI features?
No. Brain AI, Everything AI and other add-ons have their own scope and costs. Some workspaces see newer plans with more AI included; the account’s plan determines access.
Can I upgrade just my own account?
Workspace upgrades cover all members of that workspace. Brain AI is also purchased per workspace and its fee applies to members. Multiple workspaces require separate purchases.
Does unlimited Brain AI mean unlimited premium-model usage?
No. Premium-model capacity can fall back to a standard model, and unusually heavy use can pause standard models temporarily. Shared AI Super Credits fund other feature-specific work.
Can ClickUp Brain search Notion?
The current Connected Search and Brain documentation lists Notion as unsupported. Other supported apps have their own restrictions and require an enabled connection.
Who can use AI Notetaker?
An owner or admin must activate it. Eligible members and admins can use purchased access; guests and limited members cannot. The temporary admin trial is a shared non-resetting allowance, rather than ongoing free meeting capture.
