A searchable record of meetings and decisions
Otter.ai keeps the recording, transcript and follow-up notes together. Teams can review what was said, edit speaker labels, highlight passages and leave comments. Its conversation view includes an automatically generated summary, outline and action items, with AI Chat alongside the recording.
There are several ways to capture a conversation. Notetaker can join Zoom, Microsoft Teams or Google Meet; the Mac and Windows apps can capture supported meeting audio directly while you wear headphones. That desktop option removes the meeting bot, while transcription still uses the online service. Browser and mobile recordings and imported files cover interviews beyond scheduled calls.
Otter’s June 2026 privacy policy describes training its proprietary AI on de-identified audio recordings and on transcripts, which may contain personal information. Business or enterprise service agreements can govern processing separately. Cloud processing, sharing settings and applicable contract terms matter when choosing it for confidential conversations.

Limitations
Basic and Pro have a shared monthly minute allowance plus separate import counts. Business unlimited meetings do not remove its 6,000-minute monthly imported-file allowance. Desktop recording is not offline transcription. The standard privacy policy permits certain training uses; enterprise agreements may differ.
