What is Gemini?
Gemini is Google’s AI assistant for answering questions, working with files and creating content. It is available on the web, in mobile apps and through native Windows and macOS apps. Connected Apps can bring supported services into a conversation, while their permissions and available actions depend on the device, account and location.
Deep Research develops a plan, gathers information and produces a report. Uploaded files and connected Google content can add context to public web research. Canvas provides a separate editing space for documents, code and other creations, with options to turn written material into slides, quizzes or Audio Overviews.
Image creation uses the Nano Banana family, with prompts and references guiding generation and revisions. Guided Learning and practice materials make Gemini useful for studying alongside everyday research. Free access covers many features, while Google AI plans increase compute allowances. Personal subscriptions, institutional accounts and developer services have different terms and limits.
