CSM’s documented 3D workflow and acquisition
Cube by Common Sense Machines addressed 3D asset creation from images, sketches and text. Its public product announcements described mesh generation, material maps and parts-based editing. These are historical capabilities rather than a promise of current subscription access.
A 2025 product announcement introduced PBR-textured meshes with albedo, metallic and roughness maps for the then-current Maker+ offer. Another described image-to-kit, parts auto-assembly and AI retopology. Current export formats, licences and limits are not established from those older announcements.
Meta’s May 2025 account explains how CSM used SAM 2 segmentation to identify components in images and video for 3D asset work. Separating component parts supported later production processes such as rigging and animation. That technical account does not independently establish the quality of every generated asset.
CSM has been acquired by Google DeepMind. Current standalone Cube plans and access are unconfirmed. Existing customers should check their account availability; Meshy, Tripo and other 3D tools offer alternatives for new projects.
