Flexible enrichment and research for sales teams
Clay uses tables and workflows to connect prospect records with enrichment providers and AI research. Teams can combine contact data, company signals and custom logic rather than relying on one fixed database or one universal lead score.
Claygent handles research and other tasks that require judgement, including account summaries, lead scoring and outbound copy. Claygent Builder brings agent configuration, testing and deployment into one place, with reusable business context and saved skills. AI-generated research and scores still depend on source coverage and the quality of the instructions.
Clay separates Actions from Data Credits. Actions cover eligible enrichment and AI runs and external record exports; CSV export is free. Data Credits pay for supported data and model usage. Bringing supported provider keys can avoid Clay Data Credits for that provider, while Actions and external provider costs still apply.
Launch, Growth and Enterprise differ in connected systems and controls. Growth adds eligible CRM sync, HTTP API and webhook capabilities, while Enterprise adds features such as SSO, roles and workbook credit limits. The selected credit capacity also changes the price, so the plan name alone does not define the monthly cost.
Best for
- Revenue operations teams building custom enrichment workflows
- Sales teams researching and scoring target accounts
- Agencies preparing personalised outbound campaigns
Limitations
Actions and Data Credits are separate usage budgets. Actions expire monthly and are not a standalone top-up product. Data Credit top-ups can carry a premium. Rollover and renewal conditions depend on the applicable billing offer, and AI output needs review.

Clay FAQs
What is Clay used for?
Clay supports business data enrichment, AI account research, lead scoring and personalised outbound preparation.
Is Clay free?
Free includes a monthly allowance of 500 Actions and 100 Data Credits, with up to 200 rows per table. Paid plans provide higher capacity and additional capabilities.
What is the difference between Actions and Data Credits?
Actions account for eligible workflow activity. Data Credits cover supported data and model usage. They are separate budgets rather than interchangeable units.
Can I use my own API keys in Clay?
Supported provider keys can avoid Clay Data Credits for that provider. External provider billing and applicable Actions still remain.
Does exporting CSV use Clay Actions?
Clay’s credit documentation says CSV export is free. Other external record exports can use Actions.
Can administrators limit Clay spending?
Eligible Enterprise controls include workbook Data Credit limits. Recurring capacity, top-ups and automatic top-up settings should be considered separately.
