Copilot Studio connects agent instructions with company knowledge and business tools. Documents, websites and SharePoint can supply reference material; additional data sources depend on the organization’s environment. Connector actions, MCP servers and workflows let an agent do more than answer questions.
The product offers several runtimes, called harnesses. The standard harness supports defined topics and repeatable conversations. The GitHub Copilot harness handles reasoning across tools and files, while the Copilot chat harness extends Microsoft Copilot with enterprise knowledge. Their features and billing differ.
Publishing brings agents to supported channels such as Teams, Microsoft 365 Copilot and web experiences. Channel availability varies by runtime: the current GitHub Copilot harness documentation does not list every messaging or native-app channel as available.
Power Platform administrators manage environments and credit capacity. Human input can be added to a business process, with information requests and multistage approvals currently documented as preview connector actions. An agent’s actual authority depends on its configured connections, permissions and review steps.

Limitations
Licensing, billing and available channels vary by runtime. The standard-harness trial cannot publish. GitHub Copilot harness authoring and testing consume credits. Is Microsoft Copilot Studio free?
A standard-harness trial supports creating and testing agents but cannot publish them. Production access uses the relevant license or consumption arrangement.
Is Copilot Studio included with Microsoft 365 Copilot?
Eligible internal Copilot Chat and standard-harness usage can be included. External publishing and GitHub Copilot harness usage have separate credit and licensing requirements.
Are Copilot Credits the same as completed tasks?
No. Credit consumption depends on the selected runtime, model and actions. A single task can consume multiple chargeable features.
Can Copilot Studio request human input?
Yes, when review steps are configured. Its Human in the loop connector documents preview actions for requesting information and waiting for multistage approval.
